Despite my irritation over last week's episode, I decided to watch Game of Thrones with Danny again this week. And luckily for me, it was much much better. The differences between the books and the show are exciting, and make me glad to see more of it; of course, the worst possibility is that they'll raise my hopes for a different, better sequence of events and then still have things happen in more or less the same exact way.

The handling of things with Renly (and consequently, Brienne, Catelyn, Marjorie and Loris) was something I pretty much had been dreading. To my great happiness, it was way better in the show. Also BRIENNE HNNNGH seriously, I love her so much I could cry. She is SO AWESOME. I also really love their Marjorie, and Catelyn in the show is someone I can actually like, which is pretty awesome.

The other big changes are to do with Arya, obviously, but I really, really like those, too. There was this amazing scene between her and Tywin:

Arya: Some even say he can't die.
Tywin: And do you believe that?
Arya: No, sir.
Tywin: *smug smile, moderately intrigued* Why is that?
Arya: Anyone can die.

[INTENSE STARES FOR EVERYONE]

I still love Tyrion, but it's nice to be able to love the other folks, too. We did get to see more Nightswatch, but I feel like I'm weird for being excited to see Sam. Sam is the best ever. And the scenes in Qarth! I also like Danerys, actually, so the episode was pretty good all around. I feel bad for Davos and Cersei, though Cersei with a drinking problem gives me wistful vibes of Damar. Man, it would be cool if she ended up like Damar instead of how the books go!

Anyway. Last week's episode totally squicked me; this week's episode was pretty fun.

ADVENTURE TIME. Obviously I love every offering of this show, and it pretty much makes me happy whenever I watch it. I was especially excited that this week was a whole half hour instead of just fifteen minutes. And about Marceline! ...vaguely! I hope Adventure Time is always so good at being awesome, because it always cheers me up.

Now, for Legend of Korra. Here's the weird thing. Danny and I have both felt kind of similarly, but we thought maybe we were just being elitist or something until a few friends / coworkers of ours expressed similar feelings.

Why does it kind of...feel flat?

I think my big problem with the show so far is that it's not clear on who it's about. I think the show's spent equal time on Mako and other characters in every episode so far, and aside from the very first episode, Korra hasn't really made a lot of the important decisions. (Or, as is the case in this episode, not on her own / without being pushed).

Since they're not really a team and they don't really have a common thing to fight against (or rather, they haven't decided to be one and do so, anyway), it doesn't really make sense to shift the focus so much; add to that the fact that they're not usually all in the same place, and it means the show's constantly hopping around from place to place because Korra's at A, Mako's at B, Bolin's at C and Tenzin is at D location.

I'm also thoroughly underwhelmed by Amon, but Korra is terrified of him. Not that I blame her, I guess, but he just feels so generic badguy.
