This is what is wrong with the education system right now
5th Grader denied right to make a speech about Marriage Equality
This little boy is representative of the future and should be applauded and praised for his speech. I can't BELIEVE that people would dare imply that same-sex marriage is an 'adult' topic. I grew up with family friends who were gay and shockingly enough, just like I had no problems being BFFs with black girls and latino girls, I had no problems with being BFFs with people of various sexual orientations.
This insane effort to dehumanize and degrade children is one extreme of the ageist bullshit that bothers me so much. People who are older are CAPABLE OF CHANGE. People who are younger are CAPABLE OF THOUGHT.
Stop dismissing entire groups of people's rights to opinions just because you're afraid they would disagree with you. I know people will disagree with me about things, sometimes even for petty, stupid reasons, but if I were to live my life in FEAR of the crowd not accepting me, I wouldn't be living much of a life at all!
Edit: Damn it, I'm at work so I can't watch this video for some hours! I want to see what he has to saaay I like this guy.
