Pathfinder: The Reluctant Prince and Baccano! and YOU MAADE MEEEE

Home sick today. Blurgh. All the sleeping and not talking on phone should help, anyway. I am a thoroughly cranky invalid.

We picked up Baccano! because it happens to be on Hulu Plus, and watched through episode 13. Pretty damn awesome! Haven't watched the additional OVA stuff, but it's definitely not necessary. I fell in love with just about everyone, but it was a given I had to love Isaac and Miria's insatiable cuteness. They were the best, haha!

This week's Adventure Time! does raise the question of how over PB Finn really is. I hope it's more of a still-friends kind of thing than a "twuu wub" thing because really, I prefer that. But oh man, Duke of Lemon Grab, why you so creepy.

We basically scrounged through Hulu Plus's offerings in search of anime we might be interested in after checking out the first episode of Persona 4 at Anne's recommendation. We came across a lot of stuff, including the first episode of "Air Gear", which was hilarious and awesome and so, so, shonen. We couldn't take it seriously anyway, but then there was a line like, "Even though you may be one of the eight kings...!" and, well. One can only take so much laughter when one is ill, you know.

We also started Pathfinder on Sunday! It'll be a biweekly game, so no new installations for a bit-- but that gives us plenty of time for drawing our characters and suchlike. So! Here's a summary of the events there-in. I challenge all participants to summarize things from their character's perspective! Those are always the best compilations of our exploits. Besides, I'm just dying to see what Adelaide writes about us all!

Below is an unfinished summary of Pathfinder from Sunday. I'll work on adding more to it tomorrow, hopefully. I need to sleep right now.

The Reluctant Prince: Rukh: Calling in Favors

Rukh had just arrived in the city of Basset the night before. What had driven him to go to the Cup and Barrel inn instead of heading straight to the docks was beyond him.

Notes:

-Crier announces need for individuals to protect Prince of Tabina on a quest, preferably capable, true, enduring persons. Rukh leaves, being of a somewhat sickly constitution.
-Runs into Li outside. Hello, Li! What are you doing here? (No, what are you doing here?!)
-Also into a short, blond woman by the name of Adelaide. She is native to Basset and interested in helping the prince.
-So is Li.
-Nice, but I'm going. I have Business to Attend To.
-Li says, C'monnnnnnnnn!
-Sigh.

-So anyway, they walk to this oddly imposing castle. Around which are oddly imposing guards. Who are oddly, imposingly, almost inhumanly tall.
-Adelaide has a theory: "I think I know what happens! You see, the human and the orc, sometimes-- la! There is the spark of love! Ah, the king, he is so kind! He bring in these loving children because everyone else afraid!"
-Li and Rukh argue
-A lot
-They're friends from that one time, what more could you ask of them, what
-So the crier announces us to the King
-Lazily
-And this castle is fancy
-And weird
-And the King says "Prove you're worthy of protecting my son."
-Li says, "I am capable bard, ja? I come from Nadania! I will sing many tales and make sure all ears are pleasant toward your son."
-Adelaide says, "I am a priestess of the Lover, you know?" (And she has the armor to prove it, although she also says, "I do not like to wear, you know, because it is not very pretty.")
-Rukh shoots the crier's hat as penalty for being lazy and cowardly earlier. There's not much else to be said; he's good at shooting.
-Also apparently at leading mules into castles. Did I mention Li brought his mule into the castle? Well he did.

-So okay, whatever, good enough, says the King. I will have you tested by my royal guard to make sure your hearts are not dark towards the prince. Go outside, and wait; I will send a servant unto you, and he will take you to the Gilded Lamprey, where my son will later meet you.
-Fine, whatever.
-Rukh is at this point pretty sure he shouldn't go.
-It sounds kind of hazardous.
-Also, his sister is already missing so I mean, the longer he waits, the harder it will be to find her.
-Li is having none of that.
-Arguing occurs, and Adelaide looks on with fire in her eyes.

-Lo! We set our trap for a servant, and instead we catch a prince!
-Who pretty much announces himself by showing up in purple and gold-leaf robes, with a decoration of foul temper.
-He doesn't know where this inn is either; we approach a man who's finishing up some delicious peanut brittle. The man directs us west three streets and north two more.
-Our sarcastic prince-friend Skeeve is sick of this and is going to go back to his dad already.
-Want us to come with you, buddy?
-No.
-Uh...meet you at the inn, then?
-Fine.
-Huh. So the prince storms off to the castle (Don't call me prince!) fine, Skeeve heads back off to the castle and we head to the inn.

-Well, it's a pretty nice inn. Filled with rich-looking people. Oh boy. Seriously, Rukh is going to go.
-Li says, Nu-uh!
-Rukh says, Yes, huh. I'm going!
-Adelaide writes furiously in her notepad.
-Li says, Don't make me do it.
-Rukh says, You wouldn't!
-Li retorts, Oh, I totally would. You owe me...a Favor!

-Well, damn, I guess Rukh will just have to go along with this crazy plan after all. LIFE DEBTS, you know.
-Li is smug (but also like 'what have we gotten into?!')
-They have two rooms at the inn, thinking the prince will return. He doesn't until the next day, so Li gets a room to himself.
-And Adelaide sleeps in the bed alone. Not for lack of trying. "You can join me, it is okay~!"
-Rukh sleeps by the door instead. Because Dour.

-THE NEXT DAY the prince returns, no longer in-cognito. Now he's just in purple robes.
-Skeeve doesn't want to go, but feels obligated by the law of his father to do as he's been asked. We want to know: What're we doing, anyway?
-Apparently, taking some elemental item from a nearby village against their will. The people of Lisbourne have a bowl of elemental water or...something.
-Rukh wonders if the prince really wants to; Li suggests we could go do a more fun caper. Adelaide is excited as long as there are potential sexcapades to write about, man!
-But no, if his dad told him to do it, he's going to do it. Rukh nods, admitting that he understands. Sometimes one simply has to follow one's responsibility to one's ruling lord or lady; it is so where he comes from too, and he's vassal to the Waechters, and all.
-So Rukh guides the cart with the supplies, riding up front with Skeeve; Li rides alongside on her donkey, and Adelaide rides in the back of the cart.

-At some point, we notice BANDITS are about to happen!
-The same big ruffian and little partner ruffian from the Cup and Barrel who tried to take the job to protect the prince!
-...they suck at that. Anyway! We stop the cart and donkey and try to take them down!
-Rukh shoots several arrows, and Skeeve fires fire at them. Adelaide slings rocks, and Li does what bards do best: plays a tensely exciting melody, and hides behind the cart!
-That's all well and good until Rukh shoots the big guy in the eye, and gets cut in half for his trouble. Urgh! Blood everywhere!
-From there it's chaos! Eventually Adelaide gets Rukh back up from the brink of death, in time to weigh in on an argument between the others about whether it's okay to kill the bandits or not. Too late for the big guy: Skeeve has bashed in his head in punishment for nearly killing Rukh.
-Li will not stand for this! They shouldn't kill the little guy!
-Skeeve will not stand for letting them run free! They attacked the prince, knowingly, and the penalty is death!
-Adelaide also thinks death is a bit harsh.
-Rukh suggests taking them to jail; Skeeve would accept it if they were near a city, but they've been riding almost all day!
-Rukh then suggests perhaps that they will only take the weapons from the fallen after knocking them out, and leave them to their own devices? This satisfies Li's sense of honor and Adelaide's care of life, while also satisfying Skeeve's sense of justice-- that these men pose no threat to any other travelers who might come along.
-They ride for the rest of the day in tense silence, and make camp. Li grouchily ignores Skeeve, who grouchily ignores Li. Adelaide watches them both worriedly, and Rukh makes the camp fire. He's still a bit wounded, and when he leads the draft horses and Li's mule Sasha to the water, Adelaide follows him.
-Adelaide explains to Rukh that she can heal his remaining wound to nothing but a scar, but she will need to be able to touch the wound directly, and requests he take off his shirt. Grateful for her help, he does as asked.
-(Really Adelaide could have healed him anyway. Bonus grope!)
-When they return to camp, Rukh reminds Li that he was going to share his hurdy-gurdy with them all so that Skeeve would know what it sounded like, and sparks some conversation between the two of them. They continue to talk, and seem to forgive each other, making the rest of the night much easier.
