While it is totally a tourist trap, it's also a pretty nice place to go hiking. We tried out the Westfork trail, which was pretty cool. Saw a heron walking around! All in all we did about three miles of hiking, since it was still 100F up there; afterwards we had lunch and then I drove us back home.
Had some pretty good moments along the way, which somewhat made up for horrible nightmares that woke me up around 4am about my parents being replaced by some horrific creature basically like the creature in Coraline; I kept trying to get rid of it by slicing it up with my sword, but it started to become able to resist the blade and tried to overpower me. I knew my parents were on their way, but I kept losing them on the phone and then, as with any clone plot, couldn't be sure if I was talking to the real or fakes.
Danny understood, or at least had the grace not to laugh about it; mom and dad not so much, so I regretted telling them.
Anyway, it was a lovely day and even though I'm zonkered with heat exhaustion, I'm glad we went.
